Do yourself a favor and make some BBQ chicken pizza, tonight. I’ve been talking about my homemade pizza recipe for a while, but wanted to let you all know, you can make this BBQ chicken pizza too.

It’s the right amount of sweetness and tang. Naturally, explore and expand on this recipe. Make it your own to share with friends and family.

Ever wonder where BBQ chicken pizza came frome? It’s generally attributed to chef Ed LaDou, and Chez Panisse, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Wolfgang Puck, after meeting LaDou, popularized the style of pizza for the rest of the country.

Now, on to the recipe, right?

1 (12 inch) homemade pizza dough (buy prebaked crust if you have no reason to be proud of yourself)
1 cup spicy barbeque sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray’s and it was divine)
2 skinless boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and cubed (or pull out that leftover chicken roast)
1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon of brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons of dark honey
1 cup chopped red onion
1 cup Mozzarella shredded cheese
1 cup Cheddar shredded cheese
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Grab a pot and put it over medium heat.

Pour your BBQ sauces, chicken pieces, honey, lemon juice and brown sugar in the pot. Stir and cook until bubbling.

Place pizza crust on a medium baking sheet. Roll the edges up to make your crust.
Spread the crust with BBQ sauce mixture around. Cover with your cheeses and red onion.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until crust browns and cheese is melted.

And presto, you’re eating some dang good BBQ chicken pizza.

If you want to go crazy, cook some Wright’s Bourbon Bacon, crumble and spread over your pizza. You can thank me later.

Also, I like that my pizzas aren’t perfectly symmetrical. It reminds you and your guests, it was homemade with love.
