Brett notices there’s a shepherd’s pie sitting all by itself in the kitchen. He slowly dances his wife closer to it. Bontreat is a food blog written by me, Brett Thurston. I’m a graphic designer and digital marketer by trade, but at nights and on the weekends I’m in the kitchen trying to impress my wife. I’ve always been adept at preparing meals, but at the age of 31 I’m pushing myself to create delicious whole food meals to share with my family and friends. The need for food is the common denominator for people. All walks of life can agree that we love food – despite it being a necessity. It truly is magic what feet underneath a table can do. Sharing a great meal with people over a table is like tapping into a mystical source that connects us all, throughout time. In an era of instant gratification and 1 million distractions, the art of sharing and conversing is slowly dying out. I want this blog to be the catalyst to a revival. I want to share my journey in becoming a better cook and baker with you. I want you to try out some of the recipes I’m trying. I want you to call me out and tell me what I’m doing wrong. I want this blog to give you one night out of the week to really enjoy what your kitchen can do for you and yours. Make great food and share it.
